What keyword density actually tells you

Density is the share of words on the page that are your keyword. It is not a ranking factor by itself, but it is a fast way to catch two real problems: a page that never says what it is about, and a page stuffed so hard that it reads like spam. For local service pages, 0.5% to 2% with the keyword in the right places is the healthy zone.

Placement matters more than count

Google reads the title tag, the H1, the first paragraph, the H2s and the image alt text before it weighs the body. This checker tells you whether the keyword appears in the first 100 words and how often your city is mentioned, because a location page that never names the location will not rank there.

Local Keyword Density Checker: FAQ

What is the ideal keyword density?
Roughly 0.5% to 2% for the exact phrase, plus natural variations. Above 3% usually reads badly and can trip spam filters.
Should I count synonyms?
Google does. Use variations freely ("new roof", "roof replacement", "replace your roof") and keep the exact phrase for the title, H1 and intro.
Does this check my title tag and headings?
It analyzes the text you paste. Paste the title and headings in with the body if you want them counted.
